The Flicka blog has MOVED

Flicka is no longer using Tumblr as its blog. Instead, we’ve setup things on our end - so please update your bookmarks, tweets, etc:

Flicka.mobi Touch-Up’d

Since Flicka.mobi was getting a little crowded with blog postings and whatnot, we’ve launched a cleaned version. It’s completely mobile-friendly, naturally. (Web geeks, it’s valid XHTML 1.0 Strict and makes use of text-shadow - yummy!)

Progress continues to steadily rock on Flicka - more updates coming soon!

Flicka’s Getting Press [We *heart* U]

To us, you are a big deal. When Flicka gets attention from you (be it a blog-post, comment, favorite, bookmark, etc) we squeal with excitement - worse than girls at an NSYNC concert. (Seriously, it’s absurd.)

We’d like to throw a few high-fives to those who have taken the time to mention Flicka:

Adnan brought some recent attention to our mailinglist - props!
Manuela Hoffmann is the first to get Germany on board with Flicka!
To everyone using Netvibes, Twitter, and Facebook, you’re our BFF.

At this point, word-of-mouth appears to be viral. Just yesterday, we randomly heard that Flicka is being eagerly anticipated by a German photographer, a guy who is only known through a friend of a friend. Long story short, we’re starting to hear of everyday people mention Flicka - and it’s all because of you. (Cue girly-squeals!)

We *heart* you.

Favorites & Search: Flickin’ Rightious

Flicka - SearchTwo main tasks have been keeping us busy this week: building the Favorites page; and designing an intuitive Search page.

The Favorites page is nearly complete - like, really close folks. The remaining task is to incorporate a smooth lazy-loading system. We want to keep your phone battery full, so keeping data pulls to a minimum is very important.

A Search page mockup is ready for viewing pleasure. Although somewhat basic, it gives the user powerful searching capabilities without a high number of finger-tapping.

As always, give us a shout on any of our Flicka channels to let us know how we’re doing: Get Satisfaction, Flickr, or Facebook.

User Profile Screenshot [Drool]

Flicka - User Profile We’ve started building out the User Profile page for Flicka, and well, we’re freaking pumped.

A few roadblocks have popped up, as the Flickr API doesn’t give us access to some profile data - things such as gender and biography content. But don’t get discouraged, we’ll find ways around these issues, even if it means carrying around IV drips of coffee.

Next on the list of Flicka screenshots will be the Upload page. We’re paying close attention to detail - tagging, description, title, adding to sets/collections, etc. It’s all being designed into one, stylish page.

Let us know what you think of the design so far, and as always, hit us with your suggestions.
